Annual Fund Donor Last Year, Not Yet Renewed

Subject Line: [First Name(s)], Your Cornell Support Makes a Difference – Renew Before June 30th

Dear [First Name(s)],

I’m writing to you today as a fellow Cornellian who cares deeply about our university’s future. In my role as a volunteer with the [Committee Name] Regional Annual Fund Committee, I’ve witnessed the incredible impact that passionate alumni like us create when we come together to support Cornell.

Last month, in his message to the Cornell community, President Kotlikoff shared the significant challenges faced by the University due to the freezes in federal research funding. His message emphasized the power of flexible funding to strengthen all of Cornell. One of the most effective ways to provide this support is through the Annual Fund, which enables our university to be nimble and responsive during this time of uncertainty.

As we approach Cornell’s fiscal year-end on June 30, I hope you’ll renew your commitment with a gift of $XX [ask amount from column D] to the XX Annual Fund [Column J]. Together, we can rise to meet this pivotal moment and help Cornell thrive, not just now but for generations to come.

Hi Sally and Tom –

Fell out of my chair when I saw your names! Been way too long, and we should definitely meet up as I live in nearby Wellesley. Coffee this Saturday, maybe?

On to the topic at hand and firstly, thank you for your generous gift of $3,500 this year. Every dollar impacts the student experience, especially in the areas you love (College of Arts & Sciences). I, too, support my College (Engineering) as I think those programs and people are undoubtedly shaping the future of our planet and civilization.

Giving Day 2024 is tomorrow, March 14th. That day is a chance for all of us to come together to again raise our hands in support of future Cornellians.Consider another gift in any amount for those same impact areas or another college, unit, team, project, or group that is important to you. If you have interest to kill time and play a game developed by students for Giving Day (that looks a lot like games we played in arcades back in our earlier years), check out Touchdown’s Pie Delivery Game. You might score an additional gift for the Arts or Business/Hotel Colleges!

Thank you again for your leadership and Big Red spirit. Cornell is shaping the next generation of leaders, and those leaders are equipped to tackle big challenges thanks to alums like you. Hope to see you both.

Many thanks.

Hi Joe,

I’m reaching out as a fellow Cornellian and a volunteer with Cornell’s Annual Fund. Your continued support for our alma mater hasn’t gone unnoticed, and I just wanted to say thanks!

Cornell has had a profound effect on both my personal life AND my professional life. I met my wife at Cornell! I have many friends from my days in Ithaca who have remained close friends for decades. I began my career at an entrepreneurial startup established by a Cornellian. Years later, I made a career change and moved across the country for a position recommended to me by another Cornellian. I could keep going and going with more examples…but you get the idea. I didn’t always realize it at the time it was happening, but Cornell shaped my path in so many ways over the years. And like you, I have supported Cornell’s Annual Fund to help shape the future for upcoming Cornellians. Thank you for your support.

Did you know Giving Day 2024 is just around the corner?  Check out the Giving Day website to learn about the fun challenges and opportunities to make your gift count even more. You can make your gift anytime between now and March 14, and it’ll still count towards Giving Day totals.

Let’s show our Big Red spirit! Make your gift here!

Regards,
Mark Vasquez ’01

Dear John,

Hope you are well.

I’m reaching out, as chair of Cornell’s Metro-New York Annual Fund Campaign, to a number of friends of Cornell in years past, to encourage you to add a gift for this year’s Giving Day.

In past years, you have shown your generosity to a number of Annual Funds–A&S; Johnson Museum; Ornithology; to name some of your Cornell interests–and I’m hoping you can add to them or some of them between now and March 14th.

Your gift by March 14th will definitely make a difference in all of the Annual Fund programs you have been supporting.

Please check out the Giving Day website to learn more and contribute by March 14th.

It’s been a while since we’ve connected, and I look forward to seeing you again real soon at another Cornell event.

Cheers, Jay
